Roscommon is a county in the Republic of Ireland and is situated mid-west of the island of Ireland. The county forms part of the province of Connacht and the only one in the province without a seashore. The population of the county is in excess of 58,000 and the main town is Roscommon itself.

One of the key towns in the county is Athlone which is considered to be the most central town in the island of Ireland. The county itself offers a rich history of Irish heritage and those people with a keen interest should visit the county.
An interesting fact concerning Roscommon is that Lough key has 32 small islands, which is exactly the same amount of counties in the island of Ireland.
